So my magnum project has been creeping along at a turtles pace due to my lack of free time. I have been busy with work and other junk. I did however manage to get the front wheel mounted up correctly on the magnum and figure the spacing for the rear this weekend. I also replaced all the bearings in the wheels. I decided not to paint this bike until I have it together and running. Either way I like how it is evolving so far.

So I wonder at times about what other people who are into mopeds houses and work areas look like. So I decided to make a video of my moped space for your viewing or spewing pleasure. I will make version 2.0 of my garage later on.

Yup the sweet Trimags arrived today from ebay! The reason I wanted these wheels is because they are fairly unique looking. They also  came factory with sealed bearings and 12mm axles. Did I mention they look amazing? Anyway the rear wheel needs new bearings and I think I might actually powdercoat these puppies black. Got any good wheel color suggestions? The snowflakes that are currently on the magnum project will just get swapped over to my wife’s maxi project, so no loss.

Speaking of her maxi project……I have a dilema. GG (Grocery Getter) as my wifes maxi will be called has a bit of weird aluminum oxidation on her e50 cases.At one point it looked likestalactites where growing off the case. I decided to try and boil them a bit to clear some of the gook off but they still look like crap and scrubbing only does so much. Maybe I will try some CLR or oven cleaner, although oven cleaner seems a bit harsh for the aluminum.

So I got my intake finished today!, It’s not the prettiest  thing I ever created but I think its good for doing it by hand with a dremel. Anyway Here are some pics!

So I have been building a magnum in my living room for a few months now. I am in no rush to finish it and am trying to just take my time. It’s nice to have a clean build in my apartment during the rainy season here in Seattle. Last weekend I went to Naz’s shop and fully assembled the motor. I had it together once already but was unable to get one of the clutch circlips to pop into place. After a little coaxing from the press on my crank and a lot of shiming my clutch was perfect.
This bike is going to be receiving the tillotson carby. It’s a 20mm diaphragm fed carb that requires no jets. I loath removing float bowls over and over again during jetting, so this should be fun. Currently the intake I have is a little off so I am making a transfer spacer for it. To bad all my dremel bits are toast. This is a really rough example of what it will kinda look like. Oh and one more quick thing, the black snowflake mag wheels pictured above are going to be removed and placed on my wife’s puch maxi. My wheels will be a set of 16in tri-spoke korado rims that I purchased off ebay. Lots of fun in threes!

Yup the magnum is coming together slowly. I have all the parts basically now I just have to fit this thing together. Here is a sneak of my progress.

So I watch very little tv, but when I do dive into the shit box I love to watch myself some Top Gear.

So I finally finished the sealed bearing conversion on my puch snowflakes. I also painted the wheels for shits and giggles because I cant afford to powder coat them right now. They turned out great!

So here is a step by step on how to convert your Puch mags to sealed bearings.
You will need:
2X Treats axles found Here
2x 6201z bearings which are 12ID 32OD 12w found on ebay or you can order them through me at kazbajosh@gmail.com for 10 bucks shipped or ebay
2x 16101ZZ (same as 161012Z) found here
2x spacer from your local hardware store(use some 12mm id pipe)
10X 12MM ID WASHERS

Step one: place a small amount of locktight blue inside the wheels where the bearings will sit.


Step two: use a rubeer mallet and the 12mm shaft with nut to set the bearing on one side in place.


Step three: make spacer for inside of wheel. This spacer will make sure your bearings stay in place and roll smoothly, this will take some sanding and precision measurements.

Step four: Place spacer inside hub on axle.

Step five: Place other bearing in hub and pop into place with a rubber mallet.(be careful not to damage the sidewalls of the bearing while doing this)

Step six: Correctly space out your brake hub and wheel. This is going to take some time and courage folks. Those ten ID washers are so you can get the wheel perfect. Each setup is different so you will have to experiment.

Ok then you should have some sick, slick, sexy ass wheels that are as smooth as this stuff

So today I went and picked up three of the biggest p.o.s’s ever from auburn Wa. For 50 bucks I landed myself two qt50’s and a bravo frame complete with no motor. So after picking up these sweet treats, I preceded to wheel and deal off stuff until I was left with just the qt50’s. I traded a fellow Mosquito fleet member the bravo for a ruger p89 9mm. Yup that’s how you know your in a moped gang, when you can trade moped junk for guns…..way cool. Anyway I think if I combine both the qt50’s I can get one running noped which I will then sell for scrilla. Yup
